5 Ways to use Smart Film Window in 2022

Tinted film on double-glazed windows in a private house

Smart Film Window

To protect rooms from the sun, until recently, blackout tint film was mainly good for smart film window. Such a coating did not transmit light, but it did not save from overheating, as it accumulated energy itself.

Over time, manufacturers eliminate this shortcoming and today they offer a fundamentally new protection from the sun. This article will tell you about the types of new tint films, the main differences between them, the method of installation, and also help you choose the right polymer coating.

Types of dimming tint films and their main differences

Depending on the type of film for double-glazed smart film window, it helps to solve different problems. It can darken rooms, keep rooms warm, improve the safety of double-glazed windows, protect against overheating and provide privacy.

Thanks to this material, it is possible to quickly adapt windows to current needs. The properties of the films determine by the composition of the layer that applies to them during the production process.

The metallized coating is capable of reflecting different waves from the spectrum of sunlight, so it is this coating that largely determines the properties of the films.

There are more and more multifunctional coatings on the market that are able to simultaneously solve several problems – reflect the sun’s rays, keep warm, provide privacy and decorate smart film window.

House with sunscreen on windows

Sun protection film

This type designs to protect the interior from overheating and reduce the intensity of natural light. Most buyers associate solar control smart film window with a color coating that darkens rooms. However, in fact, mass-dyed polyester intends for other purposes. It is good to decorate windows.

To protect against the sun, other films are produced today:

  • Reflective – have a mirror surface and darken the room.
  • A Thermal – do not let in ultraviolet and infrared rays, but do not darken the room.
  • Multifunctional – protect against overheating in summer, and help retain heat in winter.

A thermal film on the windows of a country house

Window tinting with an inexpensive sun-protection film with a mirror effect is obsolete. This method is mainly good only in cases where it requires darkening the premises with minimal costs.

Now thermal and multifunctional coatings are popular, since they almost do not reduce the light transmission of double-glazed smart film window. Such a reflective film glues to windows, doors, as well as balcony and roof glazing.

Mirror film visibility

A real mirror film does not impair visibility from the premises. Tinting plastic windows and aluminum or wooden structures with this coating allows you to protect yourself from the sun and provide privacy at the same time.

There are also smart film window with heat-saving and protective properties. This type of polymer coating is able to imitate a regular or bronze mirror and colored reflective surfaces with a gloss effect.

Such a film also calls anti-vandal or anti-burglary, since it is able to provide protection from the street.

Mirror film on the windows in a country house

At night, when the lamps turn on inside the rooms, the mirror coatings lose their effectiveness and cease to provide one-way visibility. This factor must be taken into account by the owners of premises on the first floors.

Impact film

All polymer coatings that glue over glass make smart film window impact resistant. The difference between them lies in the ability to withstand the impact of different forces. In addition, a protective film glues on the double-glazed windows to prevent fragments from flying apart.

That is, the polymer coating may have a low impact resistance, but in any case it will help protect against injury. However, such a one-sided window film cannot function as a basic protection. To ensure a higher level of security, it requires using a material with a thickness of multilayer polyester from 110 microns.

Impact-resistant film on the window after glass breakage

Decorative film

Such a tinting film glues on smart film window to decorate openings, shop windows and is often good for facade glazing. It is dye polyester. Therefore it accumulates heat and reduces the light transmission of double-glazed windows. When choosing a color, keep in mind that decorative films have different transparency.

Decorative films of the new generation are multifunctional. Thanks to additional spraying, they reflect heat rays and exclude heating of windows.

Such a protective film applies to double-glazed smart film window in cases where it is necessary to decorate windows and prevent temperature rise in the interior. This polymer coating may have a glossy surface with a glare suppression function.

Architectural and facade films

Architectural and facade smart film window is no different from polymer coatings known under other names. They also serve to provide protection from the sun and decorate buildings.

It’s just that these two terms are sometimes good as generalizing for all types of films – shockproof, decorative, sunscreen and a thermal. In some cases, a film with the effect of one-way visibility can be a facade film.

Smart Film Window 2022

This is due to the fact that such polymer coatings are good in fully or partially glazed business centers and shopping malls to ensure privacy. Such films limit the view only from the side of the street. In addition, the outer film can call facade.

Facade film in the business center

Films for euro windows

Euro windows include structures assembled from aluminum, plastic and wooden profiles. An additional feature of these models is the presence of double-glazed smart film window, tightness contours and modern fittings.

The film on euro windows applies in exactly the same way as on old-style carpentry structures. In all cases, it glues to the glass. That is, there is no fundamental difference between polymer coatings for different types of windows.

Exterior window film – how is it different from interior?

If windows fit with tinted double-glazed smart film window, which makes using body-tinted glass, internal films will not be suitable for providing effective protection from the sun. With this configuration, there is a high probability of overheating.

By the time the heat waves reach the reflective surface, they have already had time to heat the colored glass. On the way back, after reflection of the waves, the heat transfer process will repeat. That is, the use of internal films in such cases practically does not make sense. After all, the smart film window is still heated.

How to Use Smart glass to decorate windows?

In order to prevent overheating of smart glass dyed in mass, another technology must be used. In such situations, you need a solar control film for windows, which must be glued from the outside. It immediately reflects the sun’s rays and does not allow their accumulation by glass colored in mass.

Smart glass

Smart glass prevents premature depressurization of windows

To stick it on the upper floors, you do not need to hire a tower or industrial climbers. For these purposes, it is enough to remove the double-glazed windows from the light openings, apply a polymer coating on them and insert them back into the windows.

External tinting is also recommended for smart glass with conventional double-glazed windows. After all, the sun’s rays, until they reach the inner film, have time to heat the spacer frame and glass. In addition, its use prevents premature depressurization of double-glazed windows.

During the operation of windows, an imperceptible process occurs

  1. During daylight hours, the sun’s rays heat the glass. Even high-quality, well-polished material has impurities of substances that accumulate heat waves. As a result, the heated glass slightly expands.
  2. At night, the smart glasswindows cool down, which leads to a minimal reduction in the size of the glass?
  3. Due to daily expansion and contraction, the sealant layers on both sides of the spacer are gradually destroyed.
  4. There is an accelerated depressurization of double-glazed windows.
  5. Smart glassWindows retains heat much worse.

Smart glass has completely transparent layer

The exterior tinted window film has an additional completely transparent layer that protects it from damage. Thanks to him, the coating tolerates the effects of snow, rain, wind and dust. The level of wear resistance of this layer largely determines the effectiveness of the film.

Indeed, without it, the polymer coating located from the side of the street will very quickly lose its properties.

Light transmittance of tinted windows

The tinting film on smart glass windows should be glued taking into account building and sanitary and hygienic standards. These documents regulate the daily amount of natural light that should flow through window openings into the interior.

Scientifically, this process calls insolation – irradiation of vertical and horizontal surfaces in rooms with sunlight.

Since smart glass window tint film blocks the sun’s rays, indoor insolation may not be sufficient. It is better not to allow this, since the lack of natural light negatively affects the development of plants and the state of human health. After all, direct sunlight kills microorganisms.

How much tinted glass for windows reduces the intensity?

To prevent the development of bacteria and viruses in the premises, the tinting film for smart glass should be selected taking into account its light transmission.

The required level of insolation in living and working premises determines using special charts. They contain all the necessary information that will help you finds out the required time (+/-10 minutes) of exposure to direct sunlight.

How much the value of real insolation should be more than the permissible minimum?

How to stick the film yourself?

To apply a polymer coating, you will need the following kit:

  • stationery knife with additional blades;
  • spray;
  • squeegee with rubber tip;
  • scraper for removing stubborn dirt from glass;

The search is for smart glass windows for installation on a balcony or loggia often ends with the choice of an average option – semi-warm glazing. Due to its practicality, it is in high demand. Semi-warm glazing of balconies is considered universal, as it is suitable for solving most repair and construction tasks.

What is semi-warm glazing of balconies?

When it comes to semi-warm glazing, they can mean 2 types of structures: sliding and standard with tilt-and-turn sashes. Both modifications of smart glass window blocks have fundamental differences, so you should not identify them. Each type of semi-warm glazing must be considered separately.

Both modifications are united by a common parameter – energy efficiency. It is not enough to equip a winter garden, a rest room or a study on the balcony.

At the same time, energy efficiency is sufficient to significantly reduce heat loss in the living room adjacent to the balcony. That is, the name of this type of glazing fully reflects its real capabilities.

Sliding system windows

This type of sliding smart glass windows is ideal for cramped balconies and loggias. Active sashes, when opened, are in the plane of the light opening and do not take up space inside the glazed room. These windows are easy to use and save space.

Along with the advantages of sliding systems, their 3 main disadvantages must also be taken in account:

Insufficient tightness – the way the sashes are opened provokes rapid wear of the seals, which can soon lead to smart glass window blowing;

Mosquito net with a sliding mechanism

Difficulties in the selection of accessories, for example, mosquito nets – due to the design of the windows, the use of a frame mosquito net becomes impossible. It is necessary to order a mosquito net with a sliding mechanism in order to avoid difficulties when opening / closing active doors.

This type of semi-warm smart glass glazing is preferable when space saving is more important than energy efficiency. In other cases, it is advisable to consider the option of installing standard window blocks.

Hinged windows require a lot of space

Standard units with tilt-and-turn sashes in the basic configuration have approximately the same energy efficiency with sliding models. But they do not wear out the sealing contours so quickly. In addition, window blocks of this type can insulate during operation.

The main disadvantage of such structures is that wide-open doors require a lot of space inside a cramped loggia or balcony.

Advantages of semi-warm glazing of balconies

The price of semi-warm glazing of balconies is slightly higher than the cost of smart glass PVC windows with the lowest level of energy efficiency. At the same time, such window blocks have 2 fundamental advantages:

  • help to save additional money on heating residential premises in winter;
  • Smart glassallows you to increase the energy efficiency of glazing at any convenient time (modernization work can be carried out even in the cold season).

In comparison with cold structures, semi-warm glazing has a higher rigidity, therefore it is better able to withstand wind and deformation loads.

How to make warm balcony glazing from semi-warm

The main heat leakage occurs through double-glazed windows, and not through frames and sashes. So, first of all, it is necessary to increase energy efficiency in these areas of window blocks.

Smart glass reduces heat loss, it will be necessary to replace conventional double-glazed windows with models with a selective coating. This will help to significantly reduce heat leakage.

The best option for modernization is the installation of new selective double-glazed smart glass windows with two internal chambers. You will also need additional insulation:

  • parapet;
  • floor;

What do need UV protective Smart Film Transformer?

Smart Film Transformer
What is the use of heat protection films?

Smart film transformer falls into the category of sun protection films. As you can probably already guess and as the name suggests, these films are there to protect you from the heat from the sun’s rays.

In general, one can say that foils that have a high reflection value also protect you best from heat. Most of the heat doesn’t even have the chance to get inside the room, since it bounces off or is reflected directly if the foil has a high reflection value.

A big advantage that you have with the heat protection films is that the interior does not heat up so much and it is so much more pleasant in summer than without a film. As a consequence, the costs for an existing air conditioning system will also decrease.

Smart film transformer is available in many different designs

Heat protection films are available in many different designs, which then have different strong properties.

Depending on how much the film is supposed to prevent the room from heating up, the darker or lighter it is – of course this also means that a darker film blocks part of the light.

In addition, these foils are also available in different colors such as silver, gray or bronze, so that the foils fit perfectly into the look of the facade or the building.

Assembly of smart film transformer

The installation of the sun protection films is not very difficult and with a little practice you can easily do it yourself.

It is important that you thoroughly clean the surface to be coated beforehand. If this does not happen, there may be unsightly inclusions that can only be remedied by reassembly. A glass plane or a glass scraper is recommended for cleaning. These are friendly to the window, but also do your job at the same time.

The heat protection films that you can buy from WGLASS are glued when wet. It means that the adhesive on the back of the smart film transformer only reacts when it comes into contact with water. For easier processing, it is important to mix the water with assembly concentrate.

Start by cutting the film to fit your window size

From now on it is helpful to work in pairs. The film must now be held at the top two corners. Anyone holding the film must definitely spray their fingers with a mixture of water and assembly concentrate beforehand so that there are no ugly fingerprints on the film that you can see afterwards.

Now you can start to gradually remove the smart film transformer from the film. As soon as the adhesive exposes, it should be sprayed directly with plenty of water/assembly concentrate mixture.

A big advantage over dry bonding

After you have also sprayed the area to coat, you can place the film on the pane. The film floats on the pane due to the water/mounting concentrate mixture, so that you can now easily move or adjust it.

If the foil is positioned correctly, you have to squeeze or squeegee out the liquid from under the foil. This is best done with the help of a squeezer or a squeegee. The mounting liquid must squeeze from the center to the edge, where it can then be cleaned off.

A silicone seam at the end of the smart film transformer is also part of it. It is also largely responsible for the success of your installation.

UV protection film for 24-32 weeks

UV protective films, which you can order from us here, protect exhibits, high-quality fabrics and furniture from the invisible danger of UV rays. Without sufficient UV protection, it can quickly happen that exhibited furniture, clothing or works of art behind a glass front fade within a few weeks and thus lose their shine and value.

Of course, this must avoid and this is exactly where our UV protective films come into play. Although you cannot completely prevent fading with the correct use of UV protection smart film transformer. You can extend the process by a factor of 3 – 4.

If your exhibits have already started to fade after 8 weeks. You can leave them behind a window coated with UV protection film for 24-32 weeks without any problems.

But people are also protected from UV radiation by this window film. Children react much more sensitively to light. Adults protects from UV radiation in the house thanks to UV protection film and thus also from painful sunburn and skin diseases.

What do UV protective films do?

Smart Film Transformer 2022

UV protective films provide UV protection of over 99% and are still transparent. This makes smart film transformer ideal for shop windows and museums where you want to protect furniture, clothing and works of art from UV rays.

However, the viewer or potential customer deprives of their free view. With pure UV protective films, it is mainly the short-wave light rays (300-380 nm) that are absorbed.

Most of the visible light passes through the window unbroken, like an uncoated, commercially available pane. When buying a UV protection film, pay attention to the transmission value of the film. It indicates what percentage of visible light goes through the pane.

Are the UV protective films visually conspicuous?

You can’t say that in general. Most pure UV protective smart film transformer is visually inconspicuous. However, there are also sun protection films that have good UV protection and are optically conspicuous with a tint. If a pane comes with a pure UV protective film is located directly next to an uncoated pane, it will be slightly darker.

Because a small part of the light is absorbed or reflected, coated panes are usually slightly tinted. But since the entire glass front comes with UV protection, you don’t notice the UV protective film. There is still enough daylight coming through the panes and you cannot reflect yourself in the shop window.

A transparent UV protective smart film transformer serves – as the name suggests – for pure UV protection. It therefore has no privacy or glare protection, but does not impair the view in the slightest.

Will my furniture be protected from fading?

Yes! The biggest enemy for rich colors in furniture and upholstery is UV radiation. Unfortunately, it happens again and again that the exhibits lose their color and thus their shine within just a few weeks. This counters with the help of UV protection film.

This ensures that your furniture will look the same color as it did on the first day, even after a long period of time.

Can I Install Smart Film Tint for Car Alone?

Smart Film Tint for Car
What should be considered before assembly?

Before assembly, one thing in particular must be observed – cleanliness! Before you start installing your smart film tint for car, you should thoroughly clean your glass surfaces using a scraper and some glass cleaner.

This prevents the inclusion of dust and dirt and at the same time ensures a better hold of the sun protection film.

When installing outer foils, you should make sure that you do this on a day with as little wind as possible in good weather. This makes assembly much easier and reduces the risk of inclusions.

You should also make sure that you really measure the glass surfaces correctly. The glass surfaces extend a few mm into the frame, which must also be taken into account.

What steps should I follow when installing smart film tint for car?

First of all, you should measure the panes on which you want to stick sun protection films to make sure that you are ordering the right cuts or the right number of linear meters.

If you then want to mount your sun protection film, you first remove (if available) the glazing beads or the rubber seal in order to later ensure the edge connection of the film. A screwdriver is a useful tool for this.

During the installation itself, the first step – as mentioned above – is to thoroughly clean the entire glass surface. You have stubborn dirt on your glasses. We recommend cleaning the window glass with a glass scraper.

Hold your blank to check whether smart film tint for car really fits

If everything fits, spray the glass surface thoroughly with a mixture of water and assembly concentrate (60:1). The pane can be really wet, because you will later squeeze the water out with a squeezer under the film and it will make it easier for you to install the sun protection film.

Then carefully remove the protective film from the back of the film without touching the adhesive. It is helpful if you also spray your fingers with the mixture of water and assembly concentrate to avoid fingerprints on the sun protection film.

Moisten the adhesive surface of the foil with the assembly concentrate

A little tip: Only remove the smart film tint for car at the top and attach the upper part to the glass surface and then go down step by step.

When the sun protection film covers the entire surface, use the squeezer to squeeze out the excess water under the film with a little pressure. For the edge area, use the squeegee to get into every corner.

It’s best to start in the middle and squeeze from their first up and then down. It is important to always squeeze from top to bottom or from bottom to top, never from right to left. This is how you avoid streaks.

If you can no longer see any bubbles or water deposits behind your sun protection smart film tint for car. You can carefully dry the edge with a clean cloth.

Finally, ensure that the film is attached to the edge of the window frame by either reinstalling the glazing beads or the rubber seal, or – if these are not available – seal the edge area of the sun protection film and the window frame with the help of special silicone.

Can I install sun protection films alone?

Smart Film Tint for Car 2022

We always recommend at least two people to install the film. In principle, assembly can also be done alone, but especially with more complicated steps, such as removing the protective film of the sun protection smart film tint for car and spraying the adhesive surface at the same time, a third or fourth hand makes the work much easier.

Which tool do I need?

Tools and installation utensils that you need to install your sun protection film are:

  • 2 pump sprayers (one for the glass cleaner, one for the assembly concentrate)
  • 1x assembly concentrate
  • 1x glass cleaner
  • Glass scraper
  • If necessary, replacement blades
  • Window wiper
  • Puller
  • Cutter (to cut the foil if necessary)
  • If necessary, replacement blades
  • Squeezer
  • Squeegee
  • If necessary, edge sharpened

After spraying the pane liberally with the glass cleaner, you should put a smart film tint for car on the pane, which will remain attached by the glass cleaner. The adhesive is softened by the plastic foil.

Approx. 30 minutes later you can remove the window film or sun protection film in one piece.

What do I do with glue residue?

To remove the released adhesive, first spray undiluted glass cleaner onto the glass surface. This softens the glue after about 15 minutes. Now you can use a glass scraper to remove the adhesive from the pane.

Caution is required with glass (toughened safety glass)! Since this type of glass has a soft surface, it is very easy to scratch when using glass scrapers.

If the glue does not come off smoothly from smart film tint for car, we recommend rubbing a little spirit on the glass surfaces. After a few minutes, the adhesive residue will turn gray. Now you can easily remove the remains with the help of a glass scraper or a spirit cloth.

Can a window film be removed without leaving any residue?

YES! The films can be removed from the pane without leaving any residue, provided you have the right tool and follow the instructions for removal.

However, it should be noted that very old or cheap foils behave differently when dismantled. It can happen that the film tears into individual pieces – this makes dismantling extremely difficult.

Which tool do I need for this?

In principle, you do not need any special tools to dismantle foils.

You only need a glass cleaner and a glass scraper to remove the smart film tint for car. You can use a little spirit for stubborn glue residue.

We recommend that you use glass cleaner, as it does what it promises. It cleans the window surface perfectly and is also ideal for film installation.

We would like to advise you to avoid using aggressive solvents. These only emit fumes that can harm your health.

How Long Does the Smart Film Switchable Last?

Smart Film Switchable
What is a privacy film?

A smart film switchable is a self-adhesive sticker made from a high-performance film (glass decoration film) with an elegant sandblasting effect, suitable for smooth glass surfaces. Visually comparable to etched glass or frosted glass, the privacy film is opaque and yet 70% translucent.

Daylight is therefore hardly lost. The privacy film is contour cut with no background and comes ready to install with transfer paper. Where the motif/text is cut out negatively, the glass surface remains visible.

Is the privacy film opaque?

Yes, the privacy film is opaque. In the dark and in a bright room, you will be able to see outlines from the outside, but no people or objects. Please note that with privacy smart film switchable, the motifs or texts are cut out of the film. In these places, the privacy screen is of course not opaque. We recommend selecting the right motif according to the desired effect.

For which glass surfaces is the privacy film suitable?

The glass surface should be smooth – i.e. no structured glass. If the background consists of a milky glass, you will probably only recognize the privacy screen slightly or very discreetly.

The privacy film can be used indoors, outdoors and in wet areas without any problems, i.e. also in the bathroom or wellness area.

Is the smart film switchable glued from the inside or from the outside?

The privacy film can be stuck on from the inside as well as from the outside. The foil has the same effect on both sides.  For shop windows, we recommend pasting the outside to avoid glass reflections.

How is the privacy film installed or removed?

With the help of our assembly instructions, the privacy film can be easily assembled and easily removed even after a longer period of time – by heating it with a hair dryer. Please be sure to follow the appropriate assembly instructions included in each package.

How long does the smart film switchable last?

The film manufacturer gives a guarantee of up to 7 years on the privacy film (glass decoration film) outdoors. Experience has shown that the durability is significantly higher. It is best for both short-term and long-term use.

How long can I store the privacy film?

If storage of this film is necessary, the sticker should be stored in a dry, cool and dark place and processed within four to six weeks of the delivery date.

How do you clean a pane of glass that has been covered with privacy film?

The glass surface comes with our smart film switchable. It can be cleaned as normal. We recommend e.g. B. Chamois leather, lint-free cotton cloths, normal glass cleaners (no scouring agents) – just no rough and pointed objects such as blades or scouring pads.

I have stains in my privacy film. What can I do?

Due to wet bonding, the adhesive can temporarily turn white/yellowish. After complete drying, these “clouds” disappear completely, usually after 1-3 days. Depending on the humidity and temperature, this can take up to 14 days in individual cases.

Just like all other window protection and safety films, the privacy films are made of polyester film (PET). Due to their opaque properties, Film-Pal smart film switchable prevents prying eyes from entering private and business premises.

Despite this property, they are translucent and allow light into the premises.

Is a sun protection film also a privacy film?

Smart Film Switchable 2022

It always depends on the light difference between the rooms.

If it is brighter outside than inside, dark sun protection films with a reflective exterior (with a high degree of reflection) provide privacy protection. But is it darker inside than outside?

then the effect reverses you and you can look into the room again (trick mirror effect). With smart film switchable such as the white matt Classic from Film-Pal, the lighting conditions are not important. They guarantee privacy regardless of these factors.

How does privacy film hold up?

Like all other films from WGLASS, privacy films are provided with a special acrylate adhesive. Our privacy films are also processed with moisture, as wet.

In this state, the foils can be moved on the glass pane until the mounting liquid has been squeezed out from under the foil. After that, the privacy film holds just as reliably as all other smart film switchable from WGLASS. It is best to connect the foil to the edge area of the pane.

There are one or two ways to do this. If there are removable glazing beads or rubber seals, the film underneath can be processed indoors. These are not available or outdoors in general, the film should be sealed with neutrally cross-linked silicone.

How do you stick privacy film?

Like other window films, privacy films are glued to flat/smooth glass surfaces, since processing on structured glazing is only possible with limitations in processing and adhesive strength.

First you clean the glass surface to be coated with glass cleaner to avoid inclusions. Then pull the protective film off the previously cut smart film switchable and then wet the adhesive surface of the film with assembly fluid (mixture of assembly concentrate and water 1:60).

Once the privacy film is positioned correctly, you can start squeezing out the liquid from under the film to fix it on the pane. Finally, dry the edge area. Lint-free paper towels that do not shed fibers are best suited for this. You can buy best privacy films from us.

How do privacy films differ from each other?

Privacy films are available in different colors and types. The foils differ in their different transmission values, their reflection values and the colors of the foils.

Smart film switchable is available in matt white, matt silver or opaque black and opaque white. For outdoor use, we also offer the opaque variants in silver-black and silver-white. You can also use spy mirror film as a privacy film, which is completely opaque under the right lighting conditions. However, note the previously described trick mirror effect.

Does smart film give 100% privacy?

Firstly, smart film, just like smart glass, performs the function of intelligent glass dimming to achieve 100% privacy. In opaque mode, glass uses to project images or videos.

smart film

The glass state can be changed from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button.

Smart film is a technological and modern tool: change, expand and delimit a fixed space whenever you want.

Smart film in the commercial sector

Moreover, smart film is an easy way to ensure privacy while using the conference room. Also, very often, in the offices of managers there is a glass door and it is not entirely ethical and comfortable to conduct important negotiations with it.

PDLC films easily solve this problem As well as, it is the easiest way to ensure privacy during an important meeting.

There are three sizes of smart film

Web Width:

  • 1200 mm
  • 1500 mm
  • 1800 mm

The length of the canvas can be any but not more than 4000 mm.

Any color scheme is available.

Installation on old glasses or windows is possible.

PDLC film is glued onto finished clear or frosted glass.

Frequently asked questions about smart film

  • Does smart film block harmful UV rays?
Yes, it blocks over 98% of harmful UV rays in both activated and inactive states.
  • Is smart film energy efficient?
Yes, smart film consumes 3 to 6 watts per square meter.
  • How else can smart film be used?
Smart film is very popular for projection screens, electronic blinds, and whiteboards and high-tech windows.
  • How much does smart film cost?
Each project with smart glass and smart film is special. We make your order according to individual sizes and criteria, so the price of smart film is always different.

Is it possible to install smart film on only half of the glass?
Yes, you can install our smart film on any part of the glass.

Is smart film cheaper than smart glass?
Yes, you pay only for the film itself, its application and connection.

What else needs for smart film to work?
Moreover, you will need electricity (220V) and the transformer that comes with the film.

Is it possible to project an image onto smart film?
Yes, smart film is ideal for use as an extremely high definition projection film. Eventually, we have many satisfied customers who use the glass facade of their store as a billboard.

Eventually, window tinting gives the car an attractive look and protects from the sun’s rays. Changes in traffic rules have seriously limited the possibilities of traditional methods. A modern, innovative approach comes to the rescue – electronic tinting using PDLC technology. Its features deserve the attention of motorists.

The essence of PDLC technology

Furthermore, Monochrome PDLC (LCD) technology develops by the South Korean company DM DISPLAY. It is a kind of electronic tinting based on the Smart-effect, which allows you to change the light transmission of glass. The PDLC technology considers being a close analogue of the American SPD technology.

In addition, the desired effect achieves by smart film containing a special layer. It contains a liquid-crystal substance between two polymer films. In the normal state, liquid crystals are randomly distributed over the material, which makes the layer as dense as possible and opaque to sunlight.

What happened when an electric voltage applies?

When voltages apply an electric field creates that gives the crystals a certain orientation. As well as, it freely moving between polymer films, In addition, they distribute in an orderly manner, due to which the density decreases and the light transmission of the layer increases, and hence the transparency of the entire glass.

Attention! With an increase in the strength of the smart film electric current, the degree of darkening of the glass increases. At the maximum electrical signal, it becomes almost black, and when it turns off, it becomes perfectly transparent.

Advantages and disadvantages of monochrome tinting

The following advantages of PDLC tinting stand out:

  1. The ability to adjust the degree of transparency allows you to provide an optimal view of the road at different times of the day. The risk of creating an emergency reduces by limiting visibility through tinted glass at night.
  2. Virtually complete UV protection. Subsequently, PDLC tinting is capable of absorbing over 90% of UV light.
  3. Smart filmmaintains a comfortable temperature in the cabin much better, which allows you to save on air conditioning and heating. They keep warm in winter and cool in summer.
  4. Even with maximum tinting, natural light penetrates well inside.
  5. Almost instantaneous change in the degree of transparency of the glass.

It should be noted the presence of disadvantages of such tinting

  1. High material and installation cost.
  2. The need to attract specialists for installation.
  3. Additional load on the battery.

Despite the high cost of smart film, their popularity is constantly growing. In addition, this is largely due to penalties for excessive tinting, and PDLC technology allows you to keep its degree within acceptable limits (light transmission is at least 75% for windshields).

PDLC Production technology

Secondly, monochrome PDLC tinting provides by “smart”, i.e. smart glass. It is made of two layers of ordinary automotive glass, between which a smart film places. Moreover, in it, a conductive liquid crystal substance places between two polymer films.

In addition, polymer films play the role of mechanical protection and electrical insulation. Special electrical outlets allow you to connect a smart film to a car battery, through which a voltage of 12 V is supplied to liquid crystals.

Differences between monochrome PDLC tinting and regular tinting

Moreover, smart film monochrome tinting technology PDLC – modern innovations for a comfortable ride Standard car window tinting involves sticking a dark polymer film on them. It can select by color and degree of transparency.

As well as, the main difference between such tinting and PDLC technology is the constancy of light transmission, which is set by the properties of the material and does not depend on external influences.

Regular tinting also has other disadvantages. The film can peel off the glass, which not only spoils the appearance, but interferes with the review. Located outside the glass, it can subject to various mechanical stresses.

Why is it important to install Pdlc smart film?

Differences from other types of electro toning

Firstly, pdlc smart film is one of the best inventions to make best privacy. Its basis is a film containing a layer of rod-shaped particles fill with a non-conductive liquid. In the normal state, these particles locate close to each other, making it difficult for light to penetrate.

Pdlc smart film

In this state, the light transmission capacity does not exceed 15%. When an electrical voltage applies, the particles orient in one direction and move away from each other.

Is pdlc smart film technology dependable?

Pdlc smart film technology considers more reliable. Such a film can glue to any car glass. At the same time, it has a very high mechanical strength.

The main disadvantages are: a higher price compared to PDLC and the lack of production in the Europe.  A well-known electronic tinting technology is Wigless. It provides for the installation of laminated smart glass. Smart film places between all layers. This increases the adjustment possibilities and achieves a blackout of up to 96%.

What are the advantages of smart film?

Such pdlc smart film creates a “thermos” effect, keeping the temperature in the cabin well. Almost 4 times more impact strength compared to conventional glass.

Main disadvantages: high cost and heavy weight. The latter circumstance has a particularly strong effect on the design of doors and windows.

The budget option for adjustable tinting is double glass. This technology provides for the installation of a system of two glasses, each of which has its own power window and its own guide elements. One of the glasses tints and the second is ordinary glass. Raising this or that glass, it is possible to provide transparency or darkening.

Important! In severe conditions, PDLC tinting looks preferable to other electric tinting.

Structure and principle of operation of PDLC film

Pdlc smart film works on PDLC technology. A liquid-crystal substance places between strong polymer films. When, an electric current applies the density of the crystals changes, which increases the light transmission capacity.

Such a film differs in that additional elements introduces into its composition that can play the role of a catalyst. They design to react to temperature. When a current passes through a substance, it heats, and the catalyst accelerates the process of changing transparency under the influence of a temperature background.

How Installing PDLC tint?

Pdlc smart film tinting can be done by replacing glass (ordinary glass with smart glass) or sticking an electro chromic film.

Installation of smart glass carries out in the following order:

  1. Order smart glasses. They are made for a specific car. To do this, it is necessary to inform not only its model, but also the factory number of the glasses.
  2. Dismantling the windshield and rear window. Dismantling the door frame and removing the side windows.
  3. Installation of new smart glasses.

There is no need to remove the glass to stick the film

  1. Glass surfaces being prepare. Removing old films, cleaning from dirt and dust.
  2. Carefully apply a soapy solution to the entire surface of the glass. It should be evenly distribute over the entire area.
  3. The film pasts. Smoothing is done with a rubber spatula, with smooth movements.
  4. Special copper contacts bond to the liquid crystal layer using silver paste. Next, the contacts solder to the power supply and the controller.

The pdlc smart film tinting process can equip with a system for automatically adjusting the degree of transparency.

It achieves in 2 ways: By introducing a special program into the on-board computer or by installing external light sensors.

The cost of pdlc smart film

Electronic tinting is a rather expensive procedure. The average cost of materials for its various types is:

  1. P.D. _ the kit includes glasses, wires and a controller.
  2. Double glass. The kit includes glass and electric motors.
  3. .

Pdlc smart film 2022

The cost of tinting depends on the size of the glass and the class of the car. It should remember that the total area of tinting varies significantly for different models.

Maintenance of PDLC tinted windows

Caring for PDLC glass is the same as caring for ordinary car windows. The pdlc smart film is also quite reliably protects by high-strength plastic. These materials well tolerate by frost, direct sunlight, temperature fluctuations, and moisture.

They can wash with cold and hot water. It allows using ordinary detergents use for cars. To avoid damage, it recommends using soft cups, without fiber coating. After washing, wipe the film dry with a cotton cloth or paper napkins. Do not accumulate condensation on the glass.

Power connections require maximum attention. Periodically check the condition of the electrical system

Is it possible to do electrical tinting with your own hands?

Important! Self-installation of pdlc smart film is unrealistic. Firstly, it is extremely difficult to find a finished product that will fit a particular car model. Glasses must order from the manufacturer or its dealer. Secondly, it will not be possible to cut glass with high quality, because.

The end seal of the product will reveal. Moisture can freely enter the interlayer space and accumulate there. Finally, it is very difficult to securely fasten the contacts with your own hands.

Do-it-yourself pdlc smart film is quite simple to stick with your own hands. Such tinting, in principle, can be done independently, observing extreme caution.

Work is carried out in the following order

  1. The dimensions of the glass are carefully measure.
  2. The film is cut out without removing the protective layer, according to the principle: the measure size plus 1 cm in each direction.
  3. The surface of thepdlc smart film is being prepared – cleaning from dust and dirt. Grease stains are especially carefully eliminated.
  4. Carefully remove the protective coating. The film glue to the glass from the inside of the car. It gently smooth out with a rubber spatula. There should be no air bubbles under the film.

Thus, tinting with pdlc smart film can be done by hand, but you should think about the appropriateness of such an event. Smart film is an expensive material. Poor quality of its gluing can lead to its rapid failure. There is a significant risk of financial loss.

The thickness of the smart film PDLC depends on its layering – the more layers, the thicker and more reliable the film. With the help of an anti-gravel film, the outer sills also protect. Which are also significantly damaged during the operation of the car.

Film can fit any threshold shape: high elasticity

Films for car sills can glue both with the help of ready-made patterns, and in a single piece. From which the desired shape is then cut out. Due to its high elasticity, the polyurethane film will fit any threshold shape.

Smart film PDLC is best for wrapping car sills, as it is thicker and will protect your car better and longer. If you install anti-gravel protection on your car. You will not have to worry about damage from shoes, stones accidentally flying out from under the wheels, etc. for a long time.

No traces of glue and does not damage the car paintwork

The film for car sills does not peel off, does not turn yellow and does not fade.

The advantages of a protective film are:

  • Protection of thresholds from scratches, chips and scuffs;
  • No traces after removal;
  • 100% transparency and invisibility on the car;
  • Lack of complex special care;
  • Prevention of corrosion due to moisture ingress;
  • Protection of a paint and varnish covering from gasoline, oils, chemicals.

The smart film PDLC can be easy to replace with a new one

Protecting the roof of a car with a film is a good and more profitable option, since repainting the roof of a car after damage will be much more expensive and time consuming. Also, if necessary, the film is easy to replace with a new one, since the film does not damage the factory paintwork and does not leave marks on it.

In addition, the film transmits ultraviolet rays, which allows the details to not differ in tone, regardless of whether they are pasted over or not. Anti-gravel smart film PDLC is glossy or matte, and the thickness of the film is sufficient to provide the car with reliable protection.

Vinyl roof wrap: a wide variety of colors and textures

Car roof protection can also look original, since vinyl films can be good for gluing, which come in a wide variety of colors and textures. Vinyl films provide less protection than anti-gravel foams, however, they will still protect against light damage.

Vinyl films protect the car coating from fading

The lifespan of a vinyl film is less than that of an anti-gravel film, but it can be beneficial for those who like to change the look of their car frequently. Smart film PDLC protect the car coating from fading well, since they practically do not transmit ultraviolet light.

Many people may think of a protective sheet for smartphones when they hear the word “glass film”, but this time the spotlight is the smart film for windows.

Windows are indispensable for taking in light and outside air into a house, but they are also a place of trouble such as being worried about the line of sight from the outside and breaking glass causing a secondary disaster in the event of a disaster.

Glass film is effective for windows

Glass film is also effective for windows with gum tape or curing tape stuck to it, which is seen when a large typhoon is approaching.

Smart film for windows is an excellent item that enhances the quality of our lives with various functions, contrary to its thin appearance, such as blindfolding from the outside, prevention of glass shattering, UV protection, and interior arrangement.

However, there are probably few people who have actually pasted the glass film on their own. There are two types of glass film.

Can peel off cleanly and reattach

that can be thinly and firmly attached, and the “adsorption type” that can peel off cleanly and reattach. It is an item that you can paste yourself.

This page introduces the features of smart film for windows, and in the latter half, spotlight the “adhesive type” glass film, which tends to concern that it cannot peel off once it pastes, and after detailed pasting and peeling. What is the surface of the window? I will also challenge the mystery.

Live a bright life without closing the curtain

In a residential area with condominiums and detached houses, it is not uncommon to find a house right next to you outside the window. I think there are many people who worry about people’s eyes and live with the curtains closed.

A glass film with a blindfold effect is recommended

Mosaic type frosted glass type smart film for windows takes in light and blocks people’s eyes, so you don’t have to close the curtain completely!

For disaster countermeasures for windows and glass interiors

13 Steps to Install Smart Film Glass

Design type: For window accents

Smart Film Glass

The “design type” is recommended for decorating windowpanes. How about smart film glass that suits your room with various patterns such as stripes, floral patterns, and stained glass? Recommended for small interior arrangements such as glass doors in cupboards. It can also use as an indoor disaster countermeasure.

Summary of adhesive type features

Since it can firmly attach, the effect of preventing scattering is higher than that of the adsorption type. After the adhesive has dried, it cannot reapply.

There are many functions and types.

  • The film is thin and the finish is natural.
  • Summary of features of adsorption type
  • Smart film glassdoesn’t use adhesive, so it can easily remove.
  • Recommended for rent as it can peel off cleanly.
  • You can re-paste as many times as you like.
  • Installation is easier than the adhesive type.

Adhesive type / adsorption type | Common precautions

Construction is not possible when the outside temperature is below 0 degrees. (Moisture sprayed on the base during construction freezes and causes poor adhesion.)

Glass that can be pasted, glass that cannot be pasted

Although there are differences in adhesive strength depending on the type of glass film, it is basically possible to attach glass with a smooth and smooth surface.

A special smart film glass with an internal structure

The table below is a general guide. It may differ from the actual product depending on the condition of the window glass and the product, so it recommend to check the product details at the time of purchase, and if you worry, try pasting using a sample etc. in advance.

A glass film that blindfolds from the outside, prevents scattering in case of emergency, and blocks UV rays that are of concern depending on the product.

Nowadays, more and more people are sticking it not only on windows but also on cupboards and small DIY accessories.

I want to put such a smart film glass in earnest! This is a must-see for those who want to paste it more beautifully. It will take a little more work, but we promise that you will be able to put it on beautifully!

Preparation before pasting

Spread a curing sheet to keep the surrounding area clean.

Place a curing sheet to keep the floor clean. Be sure to cure the carpet, especially if the bottom is a carpet, or if there is a problem with water such as electrical appliances. If you don’t need a bath towel, lay it on the floor and it will absorb the dripping water.

Make an aqueous solution and clean the smart film glass

  • Put 2-3% of neutral detergent in a spray bottle, dilute it with water, and spray it on the glass.
  • Use a glass scraper to remove dirt (dust and tar) that has stuck to the glass.
  • The glass will damage, so don’t put too much force on it!
  • At first, you will hear a “crisp” sound, but as the dirt remove, “Sue” and the glass scraper will pass through.
  • Be sure to clean it with a clean blade.
  • If the window is very dirty, clean it carefully.
  • Start by rubbing from the middle of the glass and later rubbing the edges. Rub the glass scraper first in the black direction of the figure and then in the red direction.
  • Spray the smart film glasswith an aqueous solution once more, and then drain the water with a squeegee.
  • If it doesn’t look good after doing this, repeat the same thing a couple of times.
  • Finally, wipe the window (near the rubber) clean with a kitchen towel. If you do not do this, you will inhale dirty water and the glass film will come off.
  • Now the glass is clean and the film is ready to stick.

Cut the glass film

  • First, measure the vertical and horizontal sizes of the window.
  • Mark the glass film with a size slightly larger than the window size (about 3 cm to 5 cm).
  • Cut the smart film glassfilm with a cutter.
  • Be careful not to make wrinkles or creases when cutting.
  • Be sure to cut it in a flat and clean place.
  • Stick a glass film

Spray the glass with an aqueous solution

Put a large amount of aqueous solution spray on the glass to form a film of aqueous solution. If the amount of aqueous solution is low, the glass film will stick to the glass immediately when it applies, making it difficult to apply.

Spray the aqueous solution on the back of the film

While peeling off the backing paper of the smart film glass, spray the aqueous solution on the back of the film. If the backing paper is difficult to peel off, attach cellophane tape to the corners of the backing paper and peel it off.
Smart Film Glass 2022

Speed is the key to this task.

If it is slow, the static electricity generated when the backing paper peel off will cause dust in the air to adhere to the adhesive layer, and after the film attach, it will become like dust particles and will be difficult to remove.

It is more reliable to install this smart film glass with two people and there is no failure.

Paste the film.

Gently hold both ends of the top of the glass film with your hands and stick it. At that time, align the edge with the side with the key of the window, and paste it with a gap of about 2 mm from around the window frame.

Align the gaps evenly from top to bottom

Once the position is determined, spray the aqueous solution over the entire surface of the film, and use a squeegee to drain the aqueous solution and air to make a temporary press.

  • When using a squeegee, be sure to spray an aqueous solution. Otherwise, the smart film glasswill be scratched.
  • While holding the glass film with one hand so that it does not shift, remove it.
  • When removing the rough surface, move the squeegee from the inside to the outside.

Use a cutter to Cut excess film

  • Cut the remaining excess glass film with a cutter.
  • Cut around the glass frame and the edge of the film so that there is a gap of about 2 mm.
  • Be sure to cut the inside by about 2 mm to drain water. Cut with a cutter using a
  • cutter guide or a transparent ruler.
